Manchester is experiencing a construction boom at the moment, and this does not look set to slow down any time soon.

This is according to Glenn Bemment, regional director for Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking in the North West, who spoke to Manchester Evening News about recent government figures.

Last month, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed construction output in the north-west is ten times greater than the national average.

During the three months leading to August 2018, construction output in the region was 15 per cent higher than for the same period the year before. However, nationally, growth was only 1.5 per cent.

Commenting on the findings, Mr Bemment told the news provider “Manchester is leading the way” with these impressive figures.

He noted the city’s skyline is filled with cranes, and houses, infrastructure projects and new offices are being developed here all the time.

“The north-west’s construction boom isn’t expected to slow any time soon, meaning that growth prospects for businesses could just keep building,” Mr Bemment stated.

He advised businesses to plan any development projects carefully, ensuring they have adequate funds so they can expand without damaging their daily financial demands.

According to the ONS data, total construction output in the north-west during the third quarter reached £4.6 billion, which is £600 million more when compared with last year’s figures.
