Are You Confident With Your Home Security?

It’s well known that there are more break-ins during the winter months than in the summer, and with Christmas almost upon us, many homes are full of expensive gifts that can make them more attractive targets to thieves.

And it seems that many of us are aware of this fact, with a survey by LED Hut revealing that one in four Brits are worried about their home’s security over the festive period, the Express reported.

The survey also found that the top security measure among UK homeowners is lighting, with 40 per cent revealing that an outdoor security light is one of the deterrents they have.

Meanwhile, 27 per cent revealed that they leave lights on, while 31 per cent have their lights on a timer to give the impression that someone is home.

Of course, you shouldn’t neglect the physical security of your property, which means ensuring you have robust locks fitted to all of your doors. If you want a second opinion on the security of your doors, make an appointment with a Nottingham residential locksmith and get them to change any locks that are looking worse for wear.

The newspaper noted that the advice from Police.co.uk is to always lock your home when you’re going out, even if you’re just going into the garden.

Earlier this month, Security News Desk reported on research from Verisure, which found that over half of house burglaries in the UK occurred when someone was at home. That highlights the importance of being security conscious when you’re in, as well as when you’re going out.
