The last few days have been a little tough for many of us, no doubt, with the heatwave making it very difficult indeed to go about our daily business as we normally would.
Sleeping at night, in particular, can be very tricky when it’s hot – and the start of this week has seen some record-breaking temperatures hit the headlines… so if you have been struggling with getting quality rest, just know that you certainly won’t be the only one.
However, there are lots of ways in which you can try and beat the heatwave at bedtime, maximising your chances of success at getting the sleep you need.
The best temperature for your bedroom should be somewhere between 16 and 21 degrees C – which, of course, has been a little tricky to maintain over the last day or so.
Using a fan is one of the most effective ways to keep yourself cool while you’re trying to sleep, so position it as you’d like before you get into bed. You can even up the ante if you’re really hot and put some ice in a roasting pan in front of the fan to cool the air down.
Keeping your bedroom windows and curtains closed during the day will also help to keep the temperature of the space down, as can switching off any and all electrical devices you have, as these will emit heat, as well.
Bringing your temperature down and trying to relax is also key, so set aside a few minutes each night to have a cool shower before you slide between the sheets. You’ll go to sleep and wake up feeling fully refreshed!
Staying well hydrated during the day is also a must, but try not to drink too much at night or you’ll find your sleep disturbed.
Hopefully, by following these suggestions you’ll find yourself enjoying better rest at night during the summer. And, if you’re looking to buy fans to help keep your bedroom cool in a heatwave, check out what we CK Electricals in stock today.
