School pupils who think they might be interested in a career involving in toll processing in the UK were able to meet industry experts during a four-day long event celebrating British manufacturing.
Bradford Manufacturing Week took place between October 8th and October 12th, inviting schools, young people, and parents to talk to manufacturers through exhibitions, seminars, workshops and learning events around the city.
Its intention was to inspire students who are considering a career in manufacturing, and give them guidance about how they can pursue a future in this industry by informing them of various opportunities.
One of the businesses that took part in the event was Airedale Chemical, located in Cross Hills, which wanted to connect with school pupils during the educational week, BDaily.co.uk reported.
Managing director of the firm Chris Chadwick said: “Our aim is to give them a holistic view of everything it takes to run a manufacturing business whether that’s route planning a customer’s order or performing quality checks on the product itself.”
The family-owned company ran activities for the students, and allowed them to tour the site and technical laboratory. It also allowed the youngsters to chat with employees in various departments, including health and safety, transport, accounts and marketing, enabling them to have a broad overview of the entire business.
Joanne Hainsworth, head of Aspire Enterprises, which is part of the Aspire-igen Group responsible for establishing the initiative in the first place, added that students from local schools would have ended last week “feeling inspired”, and may even consider furthering their education in science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.
