A news and current affairs programme is set to air reporting on the importance of the chemical industry and the impact it has on our everyday lives, operations in the UK, economic progress and the future for the next generation.
The Chemical Industries Association (CIA) has teamed up with ITN Productions for the Solutions for our Future project, which is set to be presented by newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.
It will discuss the applications of the industry on issues like food production, sustainable energy, management of the environment and promotion of human and environmental health.
“Solutions for our Future shows real, on the ground examples of how our sector is working to deliver benefits for all of society. Our film showcases strong examples of chemical companies and their workforces, alongside organisations that we work with that are providing answers to the great challenges we all face,” chief executive of the CIA Stephen Elliot said.
This comes as president of the CIA Tom Crotty set out a plan for growth in the sector, one of the key manufacturing industries in the UK. During a speech at the 2018 Annual Dinner of the CIA earlier this month (November 15th), he explained that innovation, supply chains and the different regions around the country can form “the economic backbone” of the UK after we leave the EU.
In order to achieve this, the right policies, approach and partnership on energy and climate change, finance, regulation and skills is required… and if this is secured, then the country is sure to “rise to the post-Brexit challenge”.
