Britain has been in lockdown for the last few weeks, which means many have been unable to go into work or take part in normal social activities. Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announced they will be among the first stores to open their doors to the public, as long as they can comply with social distancing measures.

Indeed, customers will have to remain two metres apart, follow a one-way system around the store and adhere to signage and markings to protect other shoppers and members of staff at all times.

However, it means they can get their hands on rose bushes, summer bulbs and watering cans they have been unable to buy over the last few weeks, giving them something to do if they are still unable to return to work.

It also means thousands of flowers that have been left discarded at garden centres can be saved after the Horticultural Trades Association expected that £200 million worth of plants, shrubs and trees might have to be binned. Instead, those that have survived over the last few weeks can be used to add life to porches and flowerbeds all over the country.
