If you’re planning on having a Christmas hog roast for your festive lunch this December 25th, then you’ve made an excellent choice! There’s no better way to feed a crowd of people with lots of tasty food and relatively little fuss.
But what to serve with it? If you’re stuck for ideas as to your side dishes for Christmas Day, here’s a little bit of inspiration in this regard.
Roasted cauliflower salad
If you want a healthy option on the table, a bit of roasted cauliflower will never go amiss. You can chuck as many other veggies in there as you want, but spinach, peas and green beans will work wonderfully.
Carrot and roasted red pepper puree
Check out this recipe on the Guardian website if you want a big, beautiful splash of colour to accompany your roast pork. It couldn’t be easier to make so a simple option if you find yourself pushed for time on Christmas Day.
Minted potatoes
For a bit of a carb fix, minted potatoes will go wonderfully on the dinner table and they’re easy to make… just bake them up and then chuck in a bit of minced mint at the end just before serving. Delicious!
Ginger baked apples
For something a little different, however, what about whipping up a batch of ginger baked apples? Chuck some sugar, raisins and nuts in there – and you could even think about throwing in a splash or three of rum to keep you all very merry indeed.
