Whether you have a gravel driveway in Derby or your front path is made out of tarmac, the chances are it has not had much action over the last few weeks as people have not been allowed to leave their house with a few exceptions.
However, this does not mean you have to neglect your driveway, as it could be used to help raise money for NHS frontline staff.
Camping brand Kelty has launched a campaign to encourage people around the country who had plans to go camping over the Easter bank holiday to pitch their tent on their driveway instead, with the proceeds going to NHS Charities Together.
Night Out For The Nurses is taking place on Saturday (April 11th) and it is hoped a lot of money will be raised for those working on the frontline, putting their lives at risk for everyone else to stay safe.
Damon Street, European General Manager of Exxel Outdoor, brand owner of Kelty, said: “We urge everybody to participate in this initiative that will raise vital funds for nurses in these extraordinary tough times. As an outdoor person and involved in the camping market we wanted to do it in a fun way that would get families together and take us back to having fun times in the great outdoors.”
The #nightoutfornurses campaign was the idea of Mr Street’s 16-year-old daughter Scarlett, with the youngster wanting to show her support for NHS staff, as well as bring families together on what would have been a weekend away for them all.
More than 1.4 million NHS staff are putting their health at risk by taking care of Covid-19 patients at the moment, with many social distancing from their loved ones to keep them protected during this difficult time.
