When you first arrive at a hotel and check into your room, do you do a quick scan to see how clean everything looks? How closely do you inspect the bed linen for any kinds of marks? And what would you think if there was a quick and simple way to find out when your sheets were last washed?

A laundry company in China has introduced special microchips to hotel sheets that allow guests to scan them and find out when they were last washed.

The Hotel Fanatic explained that Wuhan Kunteng Laundry decided to introduce the technology to give guests at the city’s hotels peace of mind that their room and especially bedding and towels are clean. The news provider noted that the firm provides cleaning services for many of the establishments in the city.

It’s also taken care to choose microchips that are water-resistant and able to withstand the high temperatures at which the sheets will be washed.

All guests need to check when their bedding was last cleaned is an app on their smartphone.

Given that Cleaning & Maintenance recently shared the findings of a survey by P&G Professional, which found that 78 per cent of hotel guests in the UK sleep better in an impeccably clean room, it’s technology that many may welcome.

In fact, 71 per cent of those surveyed said that dirty bed sheets would make them walk out of a hotel.
